The Archives
After art school, I was hired as a conceptual artist for an aerospace contractor. I had the unique opportunity of working with engineers developing next generation space technology.
In 1986 I became a charter member of The American Society of Aviation Artists and was fortunate to study under some of the best artists and illustrators of our times. Bob McCall, Keith Ferris, Ken Dallison, and Wilson Hurley became my mentors. Each year we would meet with other like minded artists in places around the country and abroad to show and critique our work. There is no substitute for interaction with other artists. Below are some samples from that phase of my career.

Welcome to the on-line gallery of Don Gillespie. This collection of paintings represents a life of art. They are unique visions created with traditional brush and paint. Art is a vehicle which helps us gain a better understanding of ourselves, our dreams and aspirations. It helps us to understand our world and to put it into perspective. The artist hopes that they inspire you to pick up a brush or whatever vehicle you prefer and travel beyond the surface.
